Wasatch County School District (WCSD) offers teachers an opportunity to live and work in picturesque Heber Valley. The community provides a small town atmosphere with the benefits of close proximity to Provo, Park City and Salt Lake City.
We serve seven schools in our district. Heber Valley, J.R. Smith, Midway and Old Mill Elementary Schools Grades K-4 Timpanogos Intermediate School: Grades 5-6 Rocky Mountain Middle School: Grades 7-8 Wasatch High Schoo: Grades 9-12 Wasatch Learning Academy is an eSchool for grades K-8, and E2020 for grades 9-12 (
· WCSD has a Spanish Dual Language Immersion program that provides students with the core academics in two languages. Students are able to acquire a second language while maintaining their primary language. By 2017-18, our dual immersion program will be established all the way through high school.
Another exciting venture is that the 2013-2014 school year marked a significant milestone in the educational methods at Wasatch County School District with the launch of a 1:1 Digital Conversion. By the year 2016, WCSD’s digital conversion will include all students in the Wasatch County School District, the focus of which is to foster the learning of career and college ready students who are globally competitive.
WCSD believes, however, that there is no substitute for the learning provided by qualified, trained and digitally savvy teachers. A digital conversion does not mean to replace teachers (doing so cannot) and our conversion to the use of digital learning modes is only as good as the teachers and staff who design learning experiences and deliver quality instruction. Are you that teacher? WCSD takes concerted effort in keeping our teachers in the forefront of research-based educational practices. We have implemented a Professional Learning Community (PLC) program based on the research of Robert J. Marzano. This program includes weekly contractual collaborative time for teachers to meet in teams to discuss educational issues. We have found this concept has provided all teachers the opportunity to increase their pedagogical skills. There are professional development courses, workshops, and conferences for education professionals offered through our district, the state and universities, as well as on-line. WCSD believes that giving teachers the tools and support to take ownership of their professional development is the way to raise educational standards. WCSD seeks to hire well-qualified candidates to join our team. We are committed to hiring capable educators that have a broad knowledge of subject matter, curriculum, and standards; enthusiasm, a caring attitude, and a love of learning; knowledge of discipline and classroom management techniques; and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. Motivated individuals that can bring a fresh perspective to the learning environment are encouraged to apply.
