Description

PA 2 GRAD COACH, 27 HOURS/WEEK @ WASATCH HIGH SCHOOL

Purpose Statement

The job of PA 2 is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for improving students’ success in basic academics (reading, phonics, and/or math); assisting students by modeling the skills necessary to perform assignments; and providing support to teacher/s and staff.

This job reports to Principal

Essential Functions

  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
  • Administers assessments, i.e., Acadience Reading and Acadience Math for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom and recording assessments.
  • Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, lessons for tier phonics and math groups for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Maintains manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings as needed (e.g., rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Monitors students’ progress with Acadience Reading for the purpose of providing support to the teacher and intervention program.
  • Prepares subject specific lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups for the purpose of implementing intervention goals and providing structure and assistance to groups.
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Other Functions

  • Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
