Requirements
CERTIFICATIONS*
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess a current CPR/First Aid certificate.
Leadership skills required.
Certified Instructor (AEA, ACE, AFAA, Aqua Zumba), water specialty/certification preferred.
Remain vigilant, alert, and act quickly in rendering aid and assisting the Lifeguard with rescues as needed.
Develop positive relationships with the pool users to ensure cooperation with pool rules and positive public relations.
Learn and use participants’ names. Greet participants who come into the class by name.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Properly follow scheduled programs and activities.
Engage and motivate participants in activities and/or various swimming instructions.
Follow established safety procedures.
Work various hours, including nights and weekends.
Respond calmly and efficiently in emergency situations.
Possess excellent attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
Ability to positively interact with the general public.
Previous aquatic experience is preferred.

Description
AQUATIC CENTER PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS, Water Aerobic, Zumba and Rusty Joints

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs as an instructor in any of the following style of classes: water aerobics, aquatic fitness, water Zumba, water yoga, water pilates, paddle board fitness/yoga/pilates, or other various styles of vertical aquatic fitness. 
 
SUPERVISION
Works under the direct supervision of Swimming Pool Director and Assistant Swimming Pool Director.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS
Description
Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, assistant director(s), the Water Aerobics Instructor provides aquatic vertical fitness instruction, monitors and educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants. 
 
Duties
Teach vertical aquatic fitness classes. Classes taught will include cardiovascular exercise, muscle conditioning and flexibility training.
Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
Prepares appropriate equipment, music and handouts for each class.
Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down.
Ensures safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
Observe pool areas to insure cleanliness and safe, proper use of facilities and equipment.
Maintain constant surveillance over class to ensure that they conduct themselves in a manner so as not to endanger themselves or others.
Enforce pool rules and regulations as they pertain to pool users.
Assist Lifeguards with performing CPR and summoning supervisors and emergency personnel as required for injuries or other medical emergencies.
Keep daily class rosters of participants.
Set-up pool area and clean-up after instruction.
Participate in related training programs and staff meetings
